Hand rested on chin, lips pressed into a thin line as Dick made sure to take in her EVERY WORD. In the era of instant messaging, face-to-face interactions might have seemed obsolete along with the art of LISTENING, yet, Grayson’s superb communicative skills appeared to be a product of a bygone era.  A few hums laid interspersed between Dinah’s poignant CONFIDING, his warm response served as the ying to Dinah’s yang.

❝ We’ve been through more in five years than most people would a LIFETIME. And while I certainly have a soft spot for rescuing people while wearing tight clothing, there are more ways to HELP humanity than by using your canary cry. For example, making music that millions of people listen to every night, getting them THROUGH their stressful lives… ❞

Despite the CONFIDENCE emblazoned in every word, Dick did believe that Dinah’s gifts were meant to help humanity through FIGHTING injustice.  But being a burned-out superheroine had to have been a truly torturous affair and to tug Dinah along would have been SELFISH.  His right arm draped over her shoulder, this time, there was NO hesitation, since Dick viewed the human touch as THERAPEUTIC, he surmised it would soothe her WEARY mind.

What you deserve is HAPPINESS❞

                what you deserve is happiness

those words on the other hand? both her heart and mind struggled to believe. she was never sure what she deserved, but she was usually on the solid belief that that was one thing she didn’t. perhaps that was the view of a martyr or a blind soulbut it still fought for dominance in her thoughts. without realizing her own actions, she leaned into the drapery of his arm, pushing the more negative thoughts from her mind and hoping they wouldn’t shine through in her voice or words to come.       ❛  it’s funny, you hear all kinds of stories about musicians helpin’ folks through their music and it doesn’t even register when it’s you singing… i can’t say i never thought of that, but i can say that at times like these? the thought doesn’t usually dominate
